Information used by SolvBuzz

Website delivery and security

When you request a page, our hosting systems may process your IP address, browser and device information, requested address, date and time, referring page and technical error or security information. We use this to deliver the site, keep it secure, diagnose problems and prevent misuse.

Analytics

With your consent where required, Google Analytics helps us understand visits, pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, device type and how visitors reach SolvBuzz. Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers. We use aggregated reporting to improve the site.

Advertising

SolvBuzz plans to use Google AdSense to fund the site. With your consent where required, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, IP addresses, web beacons or other identifiers to deliver, measure and personalise advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use advertising cookies based on visits to SolvBuzz and other websites.

Learn how Google uses information from partner sites or manage personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.

Messages you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to include so that we can respond and keep an appropriate record of the conversation.

Games, tools and browser storage

Several games store scores, progress, settings or daily-puzzle attempts in your browser. Some tools remember a language choice. This information stays on your device unless you clear it, and is used to provide the feature you requested.

Online friend chess sends game moves and randomly generated game or player identifiers to the SolvBuzz chess service so the game can work. It does not require a public profile or account.

The weather, currency and internet tools contact specialist services when you use them:

  • Open-Meteo receives a city search or coordinates to return weather information.
  • ipwho.is receives your internet address only if you choose approximate location in the weather tool.
  • Frankfurter receives the selected base currency to return reference exchange rates.
  • ipify returns your public internet address, and Cloudflare supplies test files when you start the download-speed test. Those services necessarily receive the internet address used to connect.

These providers process requests under their own privacy terms. Avoid entering personal information into tool fields unless it is needed for the result.

Cookies and similar technologies

SolvBuzz uses the following categories:

  • Essential and functional storage supports requested features such as saved game progress, preferences, security and consent choices.
  • Analytics storage helps measure how the site is used. We request consent where required.
  • Advertising storage supports ad delivery, measurement and personalisation. We request consent where required.
  • Cached site files may be stored by a service worker so supported pages load faster or work offline.

For visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland, SolvBuzz tells Google tags that analytics and advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation are denied by default. Google may receive cookieless consent and measurement signals while storage is denied. The certified consent message can update those settings after a visitor makes a choice.

On any game or tool page where the consent message is available, use the footer link named Privacy and cookie settings to accept, refuse or change optional choices. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser. Refusing optional purposes does not prevent access to SolvBuzz.

Why we use information

  • We rely on consent for optional analytics, advertising and personalisation where consent is required. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • We rely on our legitimate interests to provide and secure the site, diagnose faults, prevent misuse, understand essential operational performance and answer enquiries. We balance these interests against your rights.
  • We process information when necessary to provide a service you request, such as an online tool or multiplayer chess game.
  • We may process information to meet a legal obligation.

Who receives information?

Information may be processed by our hosting and technical providers, Google for Analytics and AdSense, and the specialist services named above when you use the relevant tool. We do not sell contact details.

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where SolvBuzz appoints a processor, we use the provider's applicable contractual and transfer safeguards. Independent third-party services are responsible for explaining their own international transfers.

How long is information kept?

Browser-saved game and preference information remains until you clear it or the feature replaces it. Contact messages and operational records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the enquiry, security, accounting or legal purpose. Analytics and advertising information follows the retention controls and policies of the relevant Google services. We review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct or delete your personal data; restrict or object to its use; receive portable data; and withdraw consent. These rights can have legal limits.

Email solvbuzz@gmail.com to make a request. We may need enough information to verify the request. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Children and changes to this notice

SolvBuzz games work without creating an account. We do not knowingly ask children for names, profiles or contact details. A parent or guardian can contact us about a child's information.

We may update this notice when the site, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
